You've picked the dress. You've broken in the shoes. You've lined up your date. All that's left is to choose the hairstyle you'll be rocking at prom.
Here are 10 prom hair suggestions for any hairstyle and look.
For Short Hair
Twist it. Side twists work on any length of hair, but look especially cute and spunky on short styles. Make a deep side part, then divide two sections, twist, and clip.
Spike it. If you wear a pixie cut with your everyday style, go edgy on prom night. Use styling glue to model your hair into an edgy Mohawk.
Slick it back. This easy but ultra chic look works especially well with elegant dresses. Use a bit of Oribe styling cream and smooth your hair back.
For Medium-Length Hair
Wear a flower crown. Flower crowns aren't just for Coachella! They are perfect for formal occasions, too. Start by creating a braid crown, or using bangs to twist into a similar look. Pull the rest of the hair into a low bun. Add small flowers to complete the look.
Add a braid. Create a deep side part, then French braid the front of the fuller section of hair. When you get to the end, add it to the rest of your hair and pull it all into a low bun.
Put it in a bun. A sleek side bun goes well with any prom look. Use a flat iron to smooth out the hair. Then, pull the front into side swept bangs. Pull the rest into a bun on the opposite side as your bangs. Secure with bobby pins.
For Long Hair
Braid it. Braids aren't just for casual looks. Use a tutorial or have your stylist try out a more complicated braid, or try something new like weaving a ribbon in with your hair.
Pull it back. A sleek and simple ponytail is a great option for those who are wearing an elegant and simple dress. A slicked back pony is also perfect for those with a bold, embellished gown, as it won't take attention away from the dress.
Go glam. For a classic Hollywood look, use a curling iron to create full, loose waves. Create a deep part and pull the front section of hair over to create side swept bangs. Pin the bangs with bobby pins and spray all over to keep hair in place.
Add color! If you're willing to get bold with your prom-night look, add a bright burst of color to your hair. Hair chalk or temporary coloring will have heads turning when you walk into the dance.
