Have you ever left a salon feeling great about a haircut, only to find over the next few days and weeks that you just can't get your hair looking exactly as it looked when you left the salon? It's not an uncommon experience.
For many, it's simply a styling issue, while others find that the cut they received simply doesn't fit into their lifestyle. At The Salon by Lora Brown, we've come up with a way to help you find a style that suits your needs, and a few steps that will help you prepare for the journey to a brand new 'do.
Before Your Appointment
Before your appointment, spend some time thinking about what type of cut you'd like, and how much time you are willing to spend styling it on a regular basis. Scroll through pictures online to find some inspiration. Prepare several options and inspirations to bring to your appointment.
During Your Appointment
Before your stylist starts cutting or coloring your hair, have a conversation about your expectations. Show the stylist the cuts and styles you've picked out and let them decide what would be best for your hair. Stylists are educated on what cuts work best for certain hair types, and what styles require the most work. Discuss your daily schedule and how much time you can allot to hair care each day. This will help your stylist work the style around your expertise, your time limitations and your personal expectations. If you don't like a suggestion, don't be shy; tell your stylist if one of their suggestions isn't what you’re looking for. Stylists are trained to work within your comfort zone, so let them.
Recently, we dealt with a client who was originally interested in a perm. Through the course of conversation, one of our stylists was able to figure out that the upkeep of a perm was more than the client expected. Instead of perming the hair, we worked with the client to learn how to most efficiently curl her hair.
