With summer vacation plans on our minds, many of us are looking for a simple summer look. Here are a few tips creating easy beach waves that will look great on any vacation (or staycation) destination.
The Twist and Flatten
There's no need to get out the curling iron. A hair straightener can do double duty as a curling tool, and give you waves in less time. Start with a heat protecting spray, like Oribe’s Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray, before taking hot tools to your hair.
Separate the hair into four parts. One at a time, twist a section, then run your flat iron slowly over the twist several times. Release the hair so it untwists, check out the waves, and move on to the next section until you're done.
The Twist and Release
If you're short on time, you're not out of luck. You can still achieve beautiful beachy waves just by twisting your hair.
Start with damp hair, divided into sections. One at a time, twist each section tightly and let it move itself into a coil. Pin each coil into a bun on the top of your head. When all of your hair is pinned up in coils, get the blow dryer. After drying your hair, let the coils down and pull the strands apart to reveal your beach waves. Finish with a texturizing spray and hairspray.
The Pin and Sleep
Why spend time curling your hair in the morning when you can wake up with gorgeous curls? The pin curl method is great, even for those who have a hard time getting their hair to hold a curl.
Start by creating curls with a straightener, by moving the straightener down the hair while twisting with your wrist. When you're done, let it cool. Then, divide into sections about one inch thick. One at a time, twist each section and roll into a coil. Pin the coils to the top of your head and get some beauty sleep. When you wake up, take out the coils and enjoy waves all day.
More Tips and Tricks
There are plenty of ways to give your hair beachy waves. Keep them looking their best by finishing with a sea salt spray to add texture. For those who battle frizz, adding a serum before styling can help tame the hair.
Finally, if you use hairspray to keep waves in place, be sure it's a spray with flexible hold to prevent a stiff look, such as Oribe’s Anti-Humidity Spray.
